Independent Driving Test

The test examiner will ask the student to take instructions from a pre-setup satnav independently. The SatNav will show the route that the learner needs to follow. The make or model of Sat nav used during the examination will not really matter as the driving test route will be the same. In case the learner driver takes a different route, the examiner will advise accordingly. However, we very much recommend the Tom Tom Start 52 mainly as it is the device examiners tend to use whilst examining driving tests.

We like to provide customers with a great deal of help and support with Route-Led's products. You will quickly get good at the different routes provided. That said, we definitely recommend having a person who is a skilled instructor.

During the independent driving test, the examiner will provide the student all the necessary instructions. In case the student becomes lost along the way, they will need to get confirmation on the instructions from the test examiner. Students cannot utilise their own Sat-nav devices for independent driving because they give turn-by-turn prompts. Independent driving will test the skill of the examinee to make independent choices.
